Some incredible studies were made in specific time spans throughout the day. Starting with 30 second drawings, moving on to 30 minute works. I saw so many different ways and styles of playing. Slow, careful and cautious. Curious, questioning and experimental. Fast, exciting and sometimes loud and joyous. Today (and every day) I am supporting and celebrat Today (and every day) I am supporting and celebrating the importance of play and recognising National Day of Play which happens on the first Wednesday in August every year. Rugby has gone into this 100% with the Playhem Town Takeover and Rugby Art Gallery and Museum have been buzzing with their ongoing offer of creative play opportunities for everyone. We set up at the Playhem Town Takeover expecting our usual Monday Play Baby crew, but were blown away by the turnout. So many wonderful toddlers, older children, and families joined in the fun. I am incredibly excited to be working alongside the most excellent @mattshawart and @sarah_makemyway. Honestly, I always get over-excited thinking about the possible organic material combinations. The texture, the scale, and the masses of weaving, wrapping, and threading opportunities, that are endless! The Weave is already looking absolutely amazing. I have been reflecting on attending the Play Maker I have been reflecting on attending the Play Makers Brum 2026 conference on Friday. I knew it was going to be good when I saw @_parakeet_studio and @opalwestmids were part of it and I was pleasantly surprised by the other participants and keynote speakers. It was brilliant to hear @drhelendodd and @emmabearman speak with such passion and depth. The workshops I took part in were fun and packed with enthusiastic and knowledgeable play-makers. @gluecollective @roam_kids @the_springfield_project I feel excited that the value of play is being shouted about and that new evidence, backing up what has gone before is in the hands of such brilliantly articulate ambassadors. #playmakersbrum #play #creativelearning
