Artist. Drawing with stitch. Creative Thinking. Teaching and Learning.
Having spent so much time at home recently I have been capturing snapshots of my living environment using the stitch and collage technique I am currently favoring. I have enjoyed having time for self reflection and realised that it rarely happens in a working week. Now I’m back working with children and teachers, I have also recognised that being in nursery schools provides me with all kinds of inspiration that is so beneficial for my artistic practice. I feel very lucky.
May 2021 was the opening of Island Nations, a joint exhibition in Tokyo, bringing the work by practitioners from B.C.U and Joshibi University together. I showed a collage and stitch piano roll depicting whisky distilleries in Japan and on the Scottish island of Islay.
In April 2021 OUTSIDELEFT asked me some questions about what has been going on recently in my life and my drawing.
In August 2020 I joined with AccessArt – DrawAble to create a teaching and learning resource for schoolsbased on my stitching and drawing techniques. See that here: https://www.accessart.org.uk/straight-line-drawings/
